On Saturday, September 5 at 8:30pm “classical music superstar” Joshua Bell will join the Louisville Orchestra at the Kentucky Center for the first concert of the 2009-10 season. Single tickets range from $25 - $75 and are available by calling 502.584.7777 or by visiting LouisvilleOrchestra.org.
Fanfara will be a travelogue in music, starting with one of the most well-known American classical pieces, Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man which sings of American history and was played at the inauguration of President Barack Obama.
From America, Jacques Ibert’s 1922 composition, Escales (Ports of Call) will take us to Rome, Tunis and Valencia. Then the violin virtuoso, Joshua Bell will perform Max Bruch’s dramatic Scottish Fantasy with the Louisville Orchestra. Louisville Orchestra Music Director, Jorge Mester will then lead us through a piece of Wagner’s epic Ring Cycle, “Götterdämmerung: Siefgried’s Rhine Journey” and the evening will finish off with Ottorino Respighi’s Pines of Rome.
