Eastern's Arman Marks is one of the top outside shooters in the state. The 6-foot-2 lefty helped lead the Eagles to a 22-9 record this past season. He currently holds two scholarship offers. Which schools are showing the most interest? I caught up with marks and spoke with him about his recruitment.
Marks is playing for the BA Hoyas this summer. He continues to work on his game and impress college coaches.
"This summer I'm working on my handles," Marks said. "I'm also working on my shot, my passing and getting my teammates involved. I'm just working on being a better teammate and a better player."
Eastern went into the 2009-2010 season as one of the favorites to win the state championship. Those dreams were shattered after a 62-64 loss to Ballard in the first round of the Region Seven tournament. Marks and his teammates are focused on making it Rupp Arena this up-coming season.
"We want to win the state championship this season," Marks said. "We made it to Rupp Arena my sophomore year. We came up a little short this past season. Now I'm a senior and I want to not only make it to the state tournament but I want to win it. For me personally, I want to improve my shooting percentage, so I can help my team win."
Several colleges are showing interest in Marks.
"Right now, Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Georgetown College, Alabama Huntsville and a lot of Division II schools," Marks said. "I have two offers from Georgetown and Alabama-Huntsville."
Marks had an impressive showing this past weekend in Louisville at the Eddie Ford Hoopsfest. He helped lead his team, the BA Hoyas, to a championship in the 17u division. In the championship game, against a very talented Nashville Celtics team, Marks poured in 35 points.
