In celebration of the World Equestrian Games, the Kentucky Derby Museum will be open for extended hours until 9:00 p.m. EST on September 27th. We will be offering an exclusive Dusk at the Downs Tou which will be a 1 ½ hour guided walking tour of Churchill Downs. The price for this tour is $20 per person, plus admission to the Kentucky Derby Museum. (Admission - $12 Adult; $11 Senior, $10 Students (13-18), $5 Children (5-12), under 5 free)
The Dusk at the Downs Tour is limited to 15 guests and will depart every half hour starting at 5:30 p.m. with the last tour departing at 7:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended. To make a reservation, please call 502-637-1111 ext 220.
Hall of Fame jockey Ron Turcotte, who guided the legendary Secretariat into Triple Crown history in 1973, will be at the Kentucky Derby Museum from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010.
Turcotte will sign Secretariat items purchased in the gift shop or fan memorabilia at a cost of $15 per autograph. (One purchase will be required for a signature.)
Turcotte won more than 3,000 races while competing at the highest levels of the sport. He rode Riva Ridge to victory in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes in 1972. His triumph aboard Secretariat the following year made him the first jockey in 70 years to win back-to-back Kentucky Derbys and the only rider to win five of six consecutive Triple Crown races.
