Dew Action Sports Tour Announces Slate of Music Talent to Play
Panasonic Open in Louisville, Kentucky
NEW YORK - May 10, 2005 - The Dew Action Sports Tour, the first-ever, season-long multi-sport professional tour in action sports, today announced its music lineup for the Panasonic Open in Louisville, Kentucky. The music stage schedule includes multi-platinum recording artist The Offspring, Crossfade, and opening acts Acceptance and The Exies.
“Action sports and music go hand-in-hand, and fans will get a chance to see the best of both for the price of a single ticket to the Panasonic Open,” said Wade Martin, general manager, Dew Action Sports Tour. “These talented artists will cap off Friday and Saturday’s competitions with music that will appeal to all of our fans.”
The Offspring, who have sold over 34 million records worldwide, will headline the evening music festivities on Saturday, June 11. The Offspring have provided the Dew Action Sports Tour rights to the new single, “Can’t Repeat,” from their upcoming Greatest Hits album. The song will become the official Dew Action Sports Tour theme song for the inaugural 2005 season. Opening for The Offspring will be pop-punk sensation Acceptance, who have been chosen as one of AOL’s Breakers for 2005.
"The Dew Action Sports Tour is a natural extension of the band's relationship with action sports," said Dexter Holland, The Offspring’s lead singer. "We began by putting songs into skateboard videos and are also playing this year's Warped Tour."
On Friday, June 10, the music stage will feature South Carolina-based rock group Crossfade. Their debut, self-titled album currently sits at No. 45 on Billboard’s top 200 albums charts, and is selling approximately 20,000 units every week. Crossfade’s hit single, “Cold,” is the No. 1 most played song of all time on Active Rock Radio. The band has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“We’re excited to be part of the Dew Action Sports Tour,” said Crossfade. “It’s going to be an exciting week/files/storyimages/of action sports and music for all.”
The opening act on Friday evening will be The Exies. The Exies’ single, “Ugly,” off their latest release, Head For The Door, was a top 10 hit at Rock Radio. The Exies have appeared on WB’s “The Mountain,” MTV2, FUSE, The Late Late Show, and will be on tour this summer with Motley Crue.
Concert admission is included in the daily $12 ticket price for the Dew Action Sports Tour’s Panasonic Open. Four-day passes for the entire June 9-12 Panasonic Open are available for only $35. The music stage will be on the grounds of the event’s festival village, within the Kentucky Expo Center, and will be easily accessible from all skateboard, BMX and freestyle motocross competition venues. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com, and the Kentucky Expo Center box office. Friday and Saturday evening concerts are scheduled from 9-11:00 p.m.
