The Louisville Originals are committed to making a difference against drunk driving. The Louisville Originals, in partnership with Louisville Metro Department of Neighborhoods, has kicked off a three month pilot program through November to underwrite the service fee for reserved CityScoot drivers at designated Louisville Originals member restaurants nightly from 9 pm-5 am. This partnership allows patrons and member restaurant employees to try the service at reduced rates.

“We are thrilled to participate in this pilot program,” said Maggie de la Torre, owner of De la Torre’s and La Bodega, and president of Louisville Originals. “It’s important for us to help promote responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages.”

"We are pleased to support two great local organizations, the Louisville Originals and CityScoot, with this unique program to make Louisville safe," said Mayor Jerry E. Abramson. "We hope this pilot program will become a model for other businesses in the hospitality industry." As part of Louisville earning the Bushmills Twin City title, the city received $20,000 for responsible drinking programs. Louisville is giving $6000 of the grant money for the CityScoot pilot project, adding to the $5000 provided by Louisville Originals. The remaining Bushmills Twin City money was used for educational outreach on responsible drinking at the Irish Fest and WorldFest.

The pilot program is designed to save CityScoot customers up to 47% when leaving from a participating Louisville Originals restaurant. Due to geographic constraints, the participating members of the pilot program are:

“We are convinced this public private partnership program will be one of the most successful drunk driving prevention programs in history,” claims Mark Roberts, CityScoot founder. “I call it the ‘No Excuse for Drunk Driving’ campaign, when everyone works together like this, we can make it easier than ever to be responsible.”

CityScoot is the first fully-insured designated driver program in the country. Since its inception the program has delivered nearly 40,000 customers home safely in the Louisville area. CityScoot provides a courteous and professional staff to drive customers home in their own cars. Insurance underwriters have committed to honoring the CityScoot program as an official liquor liability prevention method. They have suggested a 5% savings in liquor liability insurance for establishments offering this option to customers. CityScoot drivers can be accessed by calling 502.566.6384 (56-NO-DUI).
