DerbyMusicJam is one of the signature events during this year's Kentucky Derby activities. DerbyMusicJam is a three day event that will bl/files/storyimages/the flair of entertainment with ethnic food and clothing while intertwining important community-based information targeted for the hip-hop audience. All participants will enjoy free admission thanks to the generosity of private donations and corporate sponsors.
DerbyMusicJam was created when a group of civic leaders decided to get together to find a way to provide positive, inexpensive, safe, and entertaining activities for young adults during derby weekend. In the past, there were no organized activities for young adults, which in some cases led to adverse reaction in the community. As most people know the Kentucky Derby is the premier horse racing event in the world that brings many tourist to Louisville; therefore, we thought that this would be the perfect time to have an event for young adults. With this in mind, an organized entertainment venue was devised to cater to the hip-hop generation's interests.
Events
The free-admission festival is in the process of securing the likes of feature musicians and as leading artists, Jaheim, R. Prophet, Big Tuck, Tum Tum, Thee Ensemble, Snow and Leela James. There will also be special activities such as the Celebrity Basketball Shootout, Celebrity VIP ?All Star Party?, Step Showcase, Wheelchair Rugby Game, All-Star Car Show, and live remote broadcasts sponsored by local radio stations. Additionally, there will be VIP autograph booths and community vendor booths available throughout the weekend. It all adds up to three days of community fun.
