Locally owned D&W Silks Inc. — which manufactures and sells artificial plants, flowers and trees as indoor decorations — recently opened a factory outlet in the same location it occupied from the late 1980s to the mid-'90s on Frankfort Avenue. I went inside yesterday. The place is overflowing with foliage. Although pricey, some fake roses could become Derby decorations for years to come.
Not authentic enough? No sweat. Just down the street at the Flower Shoppe of Louisville (2040 Frankfort Ave.), you can pick up a dozen roses for twelve bucks.
