Have you read “Whiskey Women: The Untold Story of how Women Saved Bourbon, Scotch, and Irish Whisky” by local author Fred Minnick? If you care at all about the whiskey industry and/or women’s history, you should. The women who fill these pages range from ancient healers to prohibition-era bootleggers to modern business women. Often their contributions were demonized, swept under the rug, or completely ignored. Minnick has done a masterful job of uncovering these stories and weaving them into a tale of women’s empowerment.
Tuesday March 18 from 6-8 p.m., Decca and Carmichael’s will be hosting a celebration of whiskey and women with a book signing of this marvelous volume. There is no charge for admission, so this is an excellent opportunity to meet Minnick and discuss the impact women have had on whiskey’s tumultuous history.
Cocktails and appetizers will be available as will copies of the book for purchase from Carmichael’s Book Store. Minnick is a virtuoso of a storyteller and an absolutely delightful person, so I highly recommend this event.
