Dawn Landes is a Brooklyn based singer/songwriter, who was born and raised a Louisville native, she just released a new album called Bluebird and this week she unveiled the video for her new single “Home”.

The song is a stark piano ballad, with subtle flourishes of an arrangement around it.  The lyrics are a plea from a roving troubadour, who is sick of the running and tired of the road – and is simply looking for a place to call their own.  Her voice is soft and fragile as she works her way through regret, making this one of the most striking songs I’ve heard all year, and makes me ashamed to say I haven't delved deeper into her album.

The video is a like a dreamscape, directed by Thomas Aufort – and follows a girl (Diane Rouxel), as she wonders her way (seemingly) aimless through the tangle of steel and concrete that is New York City.

You can find the video here.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
