Dance With Fate, a Florida bred son of Two Step Salsa, trained by Peter Eurton and ridden by Corey Nakatani cruised to a 1 3/4 length win over Medal Count in the 90th running of the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky.

Dance With Fate picked up 100 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby points system which ensures him a berth in the May 3 Kentucky Derby. Whether or not he'll make his next start there is not quite certain. When asked if Dance With Fate would go on to the Kentucky Derby, winning trainer Eurton said, "I just don’t know. It’s three weeks and kind of quick back. I know he loves synthetic better, (likes) turf. I just don’t know if he likes dirt. I know I’m going to hear it from everybody, though." Behind him, t

Pablo Del Monte, off at odds just under 10-1, led the field of 14 with favorite Bobby's Kitten and Coastline sitting just off his pace of 23:58 and 47:59 for the first two quarters. As the field turned for home, Pablo Del Monte kicked on with the others set to chase him into the final stretch of the 1 1/8 mile race over the synthetic Polytrack. Medal Count and Dance With Fate, both off at odds just over 6-1, appeared to join ranks and move in unison for a few strides down the stretch before Dance With Fate motored past Medal Count and a fading Pablo Del Monte. Dance With Fate finished 1 3/4 lengths in front of Medal Count who was 1 3/4 lengths in front of Pablo Del Monte. It was another 5 1/4 lengths back to fourth place finisher Big Bazinga.

"They were actually going a little slower than I anticipated, but being on the Polytrack you don’t know what’s going to happen," said winning rider Corey Nakatani. "In talking with Peter (Eurton) about the race before, he said, ‘If you can, get him to switch off and just have a target for him to run at, save a little and just make your best run when it counts,' and I said, 'Ok, let’s do it.'"

Dance With Fate finished second to Tamarando in the El Camino Real Derby in his last start Feb. 15. He now has three wins and three seconds in eight career starts and earnings of $680,050. He picked up 100 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard, which puts him in third place with 108 points.
