Flame Run Glass Studio and Gallery will feature a solo exhibit of the work of Curtiss Brock from Oct. 1 through Nov. 20. An opening night reception begins at 5 p.m. on Gallery Hop night with a demonstration at 7 p.m.
Brock is a professor of glass at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithfield, Tenn., a satellite campus of Tennessee Technological University. Flame Run’s owner, Brook White Jr., studied with Brock in the 1990s. White, who called Brock a mentor, said Brock has developed several new techniques for blowing and casting glass while nurturing young glass artists like James Mongrain, of Mukilteo, Wash., and Matt Cummings of Louisville. The work of both artists has been shown at Flame Run.
