This free concert blends music and songs performed by the Messengers for Christ choir with excerpts from the Carnegie Center for Art & History’s award-winning multimedia program titled Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: Men and Women of the Underground Railroad. The spirituals the choir will perform speak of the struggle to escape slavery and are often referred to as freedom songs. The Messengers for Christ recorded a CD of these songs which will be available for purchase. Presented by the Carnegie Center, Inc. and the University of Louisville.
