Brad Alstrom of the Lost River Community Co-op in Paoli, Indiana will share the story of how their co-op began and how it thrives today. Alstrom is General Manager of the co-op’s full-service, natural grocery and deli. The co-op’s mission statement says, “We are a member-owned association dedicated to serving the needs of local growers, producers, and consumers by providing goods, services, and healthy food choices at fair value. We promote community well-being, economic prosperity, and self-reliance through co-operation.”
Alstrom will also give suggestions for starting a co-op and following his presentation, there will be a dialogue about starting such a venture in New Albany. The program is free and open to the public and anyone who is interested in participating in a community co-op is encouraged to attend. This program is jointly presented by the Carnegie Center, Develop New Albany and the New Albany Urban Enterprise
Association.
