    Louisville, KY The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft is proud to present Folk Art from the Collection of Ann and John Miller. The show will be on view in the Mary and Al Shands Gallery from Saturday, January 15 through Saturday, March 26, 2005, with an opening reception on Thursday, January 20th from 5-7:30pm. This Folk Art collection is one of the most important and wide-ranging in the region.


    Ann and John Miller of Louisville have been collecting art, and in particular Folk Art, for more than twenty years. Through careful research and numerous visits to artist’s studios, auctions and galleries throughout the South, they have created one of the most extensive collections in the region.


    This will be an opportunity to view works by many of the major Southern folk artists from the past twenty five year including Edgar Tolson, Earnest Patton, Sister Gertrude Morgan, Herbert Singleton, Garland and Minnie Adkins, Linvel Barker, Junior Lewis, James Herold Jennings, Jimmy Lee Sudduth, Son Thomas, Ronald and Jessie Cooper, Carl Mc Kenzie, Sultan Rogers and many more, including work from Haiti, Mexico and the Pacific Northwest.

    The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981. Its mission is to promote the art and craft heritage of Kentucky. The Museum is supported in part by the Fund for the Arts and the Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
