The issue of homeless in Louisville is grabbing the attention this week as Rx housing, a national initiative, moves into Louisville.  With the project still in the ground stages, the issue of homelessness in our city is all over the streets.  In 2013, there were a total of 8,608 homeless individuals in Louisville metro, according to a study done by the Coalition for the Homeless.

The national initiative of Rx Housing set the goal to establish housing for 100,000 people by July.  The 100,000 homes campaign has gained national attention for its housing first approach to homelessness.

Linda Kauffman  of the 100,000 homes campaign will lead a training in collaboration with the Coalition for the Homeless.  Louisville’s Coalition for the Homeless hosts training on “Housing First” on Tuesday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The morning session of the training is open to the general public and Louisville community to learn about the Housing First initiative and ask questions.  The afternoon session will feature a discussion on programmatic issues of the Housing First initiative.

The training will be located in Ballroom B on the 2nd floor of the Wayside Hotel, 1200 W. Broadway.
