"The Day of the Dead is an ancient Aztec celebration of death, the
bitter-sweet companion to life" (Luis San Vicencete, The Festival of
Bones). Students will learn about the history and traditions of this
holiday, while building "sugar skulls" to honor the dead & celebrate
life. Participants will hand build the skulls from black and white clay
bodies. The skulls will then be carved, stamped, glazed, and otherwise
adorned. Suzanne Edds is a ceramic sculptor from Louisville, KY. She
has a BFA with an emphasis in clay and has exhibited her clay work
locally and nationally. Edds' work will be featured in the KMAC gallery
shop during the Day of the Dead holiday celebrations. NO previous art
or clay experience necessary for this workshop. Mexican Hot Chocolate
