LOUISVILLE, Feb. 24 -- Singers from Beechwood Baptist Church and Bethany Baptist Church are preparing to unite their voices to celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The combined chorus will present "Followers of the Light," written by Cindy Berry. Featuring original music written in 2004, Berry retells major events of the ministry of Jesus from the viewpoint of his mother Mary and John the apostle.
Actors "set the stage" for each song by portraying major characters from the Biblical Gospel of John.
Under the direction of Dr. Thomas Bolton, instrumentalists will accompany the choirs. In addition to leading the music ministries of Bethany Baptist Church, Dr. Bolton also serves as Dean of the School of Church Music and Worship at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He conducts the Seminary's Chapel Choir often seen in the broadcast of Southern Seminary's worship services on FAITH Channel 19.
The first presentation will be in the Highlands at the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church on Palm Sunday, March 20, at 6:30 PM. Beechwood Baptist Church will host this event in the St. Matthews community on Good Friday, March 25, at 7:00 PM. The churches invite the public to att/files/storyimages/with free admission.
