The fresh and contemporary musical from Jason Robert Brown (“Parade”, “Songs for a New World”), “The Last Five Years”
explores the relationship between Jamie Wellerstein (Jeremy Moon), a rising novelist, and Cathy Hyatt (Jamie Lynn Sutton), a struggling actress.
Intoxicating and honest, this song-cycle musical ingeniously chronicles five years of a relationship, from meeting to break-up or from break-up to meeting, depending on your own point of view. The show uses the structure of storytelling in which Cathy travels backwards in time, beginning the show at the end of the marriage, and Jamie travels forward, starting just after the couple have met. The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their time-lines intersect.
