Exhibit Description: Casey Hyland's glass art exhibit, "Wishful Thinking", will feature artwork produced over the last three years. Using silvered bottles, clear stones, thin steel rods with glass and bubbles inside bubbles, the artwork describes moments of gazing into the mirror at a bar, stacking stones, blowing wishes with a dandelion and playing with soap bubbles.
As well, Casey will also install a hanging chandelier in Glassworks' main lobby. Entitled "Offering", the silvered glass sculpture is loosely inspired by Shel Silverstein's"The Giving Tree".
In conjunction with the Louisville Photo Biennial, the exhibit will also feature "Bubble Portraits" of Julianne Swartz. Ms Swartz lives and works in Brooklyn and Kingston, NY.
Artist Statement: "Bottles, stones, dandelions and bubbles are the subjects of this exhibit. Especially with the reflective surfaces, I am interested in arresting the viewer. There is a curious opportunity to blur the distinction between the object and the viewer."- Casey Hyland
