July is coming to an end, Louisville! This means that there are only a couple of weeks left to soak up as much summer fun as possible before the new school year begins. And if you’ve already spent a pretty penny on summer fun earlier in the season, don’t worry. The University of Louisville has got your free fun covered with its Cards Under the Stars movie series!

The University of Louisville will continue its free all-ages summer film series with its second feature, “Cinderella,” Disney’s newest live-action take on the classic animated fairytale. The film, which is rated PG, first premiered in American theaters in March of this year and isn’t scheduled for a DVD release until September. But you can catch it this Friday, July 24th, for free outside under the starry summer sky between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall on the University’s main campus near Eastern Parkway and Third Street.

The movie will begin at sunset but families are invited to arrive early at 6:30pm for a double dose of fun including crafts, games and inflatables for the kids, and also an opportunity to meet Cinderella herself!

And who wants to watch a movie without snacks? The University of Louisville will be hosting some of this city’s favorite mobile summertime cuisine. The delicious “Sweet N’ Savory” food truck will be there serving up Louisville’s most inventive crepes and sweetest gelato along with the perfectly savory barbecue sandwiches of “Boss Hog’s BBQ” food truck. And for those who have picky eaters in their family, guests are welcome to bring a cooler or picnic basket full of their own favorite foods and drinks.

Guest parking will be available in the lots located at 2301 S. 3rd Street right next to Grawemeyer Hall and also at 216 Eastern Parkway behind Ernst Hall. Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and blankets!
