We continue our countdown of the 101 best players in the 101 seasons of the University of Louisville men’s basketball program. This installment is a look at players Nos. 51-60 (in reverse order).

    60. Jeff Hall (1982-86) - The 6-foot-4 guard ranks 31st on the all-time scoring list (1,294/8.9 ppg). Hall shot 51.7 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the foul line in his career, but likely would’ve benefited from a 3-point line. The Cardinals went 107-40 (a 72.8 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by the ‘86 national title his senior year and a trip to the ‘83 Final Four his freshman season.

    59. Edgar Sosa (2006-10) - The 6-1 guard (pictured above) ranks 27th on the all-time scoring list (1,363/9.7 ppg) and fifth all-time in made 3-pointers (200), the biggest of which beat Kentucky on Jan. 4, 2009. Sosa was very good as a freshman (11.4 ppg), but his production dipped the next two seasons before his solid senior season (13.1 ppg). The Cards went 102-38 (72.9 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by back-to-back Elite Eight appearances his sophomore and junior years.

    58. Kenny Payne (1985-89) - The 6-8 forward ranks 56th on the all-time scoring list (1,083). Payne warmed the bench on the ’86 title team, but came into his own in his final two seasons on the court (thanks, in part, to the 3-point shot). As a senior he was second on the team (behind Pervis Ellison) in scoring (14.5 ppg) and rebounding (5.7 rpg). The Cards went 98-41 (a 70.5 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by that aforementioned national championship in '86.

    57. Fred Sawyer (1958-61) - The 6-11 center ranks fourth all-time in rebounds (1,040/12.1 rpg) and he only played in 86 career games. Sawyer averaged double-doubles his sophomore (11.7 ppg, 11.5 rpg) and junior (13.2 ppg, 14.1 rpg) seasons. The Cards went 55-31 (a 64 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by a trip to the NCAA Tournament his senior year.

    56. Jim Morgan (1954-57) - The 6-1 guard ranks 52nd on the all-time scoring list (1,105/12.4 ppg). Morgan averaged 14.4 points his junior year and 17.4 points his senior season. The Cards went 66-16 (80.5 percent) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by the ‘56 NIT title.

    55. Phil Bond (1972-73 & ‘74-77) - The 6-2 guard, a standout from Manual High School, is fourth all-time in assists (528). He led the team in dishing out dimes as a sophomore (4.7 apg), junior (5.4 apg) and senior (5.6 apg). The Cards went 92-25 (a 78.6 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by a trip to the ‘75 Final Four.

    54. Greg Minor (1991-94) - The 6-6 swingman ranks 40th on the all-time scoring list (1,199 points/12.6 ppg) despite missing his freshman year due to academics. Minor ranked third on the team in scoring in each of his seasons. The Cards went 69-26 (a 72.6 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by two Metro Conference titles and two trips to the NCAA’s Sweet Sixteen.

    53. David Padgett (2005-08) - The 6-11 center, who scored 889 points in his three seasons (10.7 ppg), is second all-time in field-goal percentage (61.3). He was second on the team in scoring as a sophomore (11.8 ppg), third as a junior (9.5 ppg) and led it his senior season (11.2 ppg). The Cards went 72-32 (69.2 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by a trip to the Elite Eight his senior year.

    52. Ellis Myles (2000-03 & '04-05) - The 6-7 forward-center ranks sixth all-time in rebounds (998/8 rpg) and 61st on the all-time scoring list (1,045/8.4 ppg). He was a leader on the ’05 Final Four team, averaging 10.4 ppg, 9.2 rpg and shooting 50.6 percent from the field. The Cards went 89-42 (a 67.9 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by that trip to the ‘05 national semifinals.

    51. Phil Rollins (1952-56) - The 6-2 guard ranks 59th on the all-time scoring list (1,060/12.5 ppg). He was the second-leading scorer, behind Charlie Tyra, as a junior (13.3 ppg) and senior (15 ppg). The Cards went 89-24 (a 78.7 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by an NIT title in ‘56.
