Celebrate the Fall season and a very special date (10/10/10) in a very special way! On Sunday, October 10 at 1:00pm, Capriole Farms will host their annual 2011 Open House. As in previous years, Judy Schad, owner of Capriole Farms, invites guests to tour the rustic barns, extensive gardens and pond, and beautiful farmland while sampling her famous farmstead goat cheeses.
This year, she has invited dear friend Chef Dean Corbett, of Equus, Jack’s Lounge and Corbett’s: an American place, to create a delicious Southern BBQ lunch. Chef Corbett’s relaxed menu will include 30 Hour Slow Baked Beef Brisket with BBQ, Texas Baked Beans, Classic Potato Salad and Texas Toast. A crowd favorite will be Judy Schad’s Persimmon Pudding for dessert. Greg Hall, of Goose Island Brewery in Chicago, will be on hand for guests to enjoy beer samplings and the Capriole Farm Store will be open where guests can purchase the many award-winning goat cheeses, such as O’Banon and Wabash Cannonballs.
Children will excite over the more than 500 goats, numerous chicken and other wildlife on the farm. Not to be outdone by the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington KY, Capriole will also feature the Kentuckiana Caprine Games with some of the farm’s best acrobats and racing stars. Be sure to dress comfortably and to wear your walking shoes. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Capriole Farms by phone at (812) 923-9408 or by email at caprioleinc.com. In the event of inclement weather, the Capriole Open House will be postponed until the following Sunday, October 17, 2010.
