Calvin Borel will once again ride the Sunland Derby's representative Kentucky Derby entry when he rides Twice the Appeal next Saturday. Twice the Appeal is the longshot winner of the Grade 3 Sunland Derby that was run in New Mexico March 27th. Mine That Bird, whom Calvin Borel rode to victory in the 2009 Kentucky Derby, finished third in that year's Sunland Derby.

Twice the Appeal has $400,000 in graded earnings which was the purse he received from the Sunland Derby. He's an experienced runner with ten lifetime starts and needed seven of those races to break his maiden. However, he has two wins this year and beat the much-talked-about-Derby-hopeful Astrology by 1 1/2 lengths in the Sunland Derby.

Twice the Appeal definitely has twice the appeal now that he'll be ridden by three-time Kentucky Derby winner Calvin Borel!
