    In
May I lamented the loss of the Douglass Loop Deli. The small eatery had a nice
selection of sandwiches and standard lunch fair but inconsistent hours seemed
to doom the place. It was sad to see a restaurant leave the Douglass Loop area
because if there is one thing we need more of in Louisville it’s restaurants in walking
    distance from my house.

    So
today I’m very happy to tell you that the empty space where the Douglass Loop
Deli once lived will very soon be home to a second Cafe Lou Lou location. Yes,
Cafe Lou Lou in the Highlands. It’s terribly
    exciting news.

    Here’s
the scoop from the Cafe Lou Lou email notice:

    “Dear
    Lou Lou-ers,

    We
are excited and pleased to announce the opening of an additional Cafe Lou Lou,
located in the Douglass Loop, in the Highlands-Bardstown
    Road
area, near the Heine Bros. We are hoping to
open mid-August, if all the work crews show up on time, etc. We will have the
same menu and here's the bonus, drum roll please, DELIVERY in a limited area.
The new place has parking behind and across the street. There are metered
parking spots in front of the store too.

    In
the meantime, come see us in St. Matthews...July 9 is our first birthday in
this location. Can you believe how fast time flies???

    Looking
    forward to seeing you soon,

    Helen
    and Clay”

    The
rumor I heard is that the new Cafe Lou Lou in the Highlands
is expected to be open by mid August. That seems like an awfully quick turn
around so I’m betting early September to be safe but that’s fine by me. It will
be like an early present for fall.
