The Brown Hotel, Louisville’s classic destination for hospitality, food and fun, invites you to bring your singing voice to the lobby bar for weekly piano entertainment that features tapas and specially priced signature cocktails and Terra D’Oro wines. The historic lobby will pay homage to the elegant piano bars of a bygone era on Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with professional pianist Sue Ann Stone playing Broadway and jazz era hits. During these hours, the bar will offer Terra d’Oro wines for $5 per glass and half-priced signature cocktails.
Signature cocktails, created by The Lobby Bar’s talented bartenders, range from $10 to $12 and include the “Sleeping Beauty,” Vox vodka, Apple Pucker, Tuaca, a splash of sour mix, lemon and lime; and “The Red Headed Peach,” Bacardi Peach Rum, club soda and a double splash of cranberry.
Terra d’Oro wines were selected as the featured varietals such as Rosé, Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese and Zinfandel, because their storied past invites conversation and captures the imagination. Terra D’Oro is located in Amador County, in the rugged Sierra Foothills of California. More than a century ago, pioneers ventured to this area during the Gold Rush and planted vineyards to help quench their thirst.
The Brown Hotel’s executive chef Laurent Géroli has created a tapas menu to go with the Terra d’Oro wines. The menu includes Free Range Oregano Chicken Kebabs with Gremolata Sauce, $5.75; Porcini Mushroom & Shallot Risotto with Lemon Mascarpone, $4.75; Pancetta-Wrapped Shrimp with Roasted Capsicum and Basil, $6.75; and Heirloom Tomato and Arugula on Pecorino Romano Crostini with Marinated White Anchovies, $5.75.
The regular menu and wine list are also available. The Lobby Bar is open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily. The Brown Hotel, located at Fourth and Broadway, has been a Louisville tradition for 85 years. It is home to the four-diamond English Grill and the casual venue, J. Graham’s Café where guests can try the legendary sandwich called “The Hot Brown.” The Brown Hotel is also a member of the Preferred Hotels and Resorts and Historic Hotels of America.
