The non-profit organization known as Blue Sky Kentucky, which produced JAMFest in 2002, is now re-emerging with a series of affordable, listening room shows for all ages. The Americana Caravan series is designed to renew Blue Sky Kentucky’s commitment to promote live music performances from both nationally known and up and coming performers, to raise awareness of the organization itself, and to do a little fundraising toward future endeavors. The venue for the concert series will be the Comedy Caravan on Bardstown Road and will include one Monday evening performance each month.
Joe Ely will make his first public Louisville appearance in several years to inaugurate the new Americana Caravan series on Monday, June 5th, with a local performer yet to be announced. Doors will open at 7 PM and the opening act will begin at 7:30 PM. Advance tickets are available from ear X-tacy records, the Comedy Caravan box office, or at the door for a $5 minimum suggested donation to Blue Sky Kentucky.
Blue Sky board president Greg Handy is excited by the organization’s return to its role as concert presenter. “Blue Sky Kentucky is now in a position to fill a void in the Louisville music scene by bringing in artists who would not normally be considered by for-profit promoters,” he says. “Our Americana Caravan series is just one way in which we int/files/storyimages/to fulfill that idea. Blue Sky's motto is to build community through music.”
