Most bird identification techniques depend on visual images. The Birding by Ear approach emphasizes bird vocalization. Last fall, Barbara Woerner, of the Beckham Bird Club, led a workshop to introduce this approach. The group who attended wanted to continue and to learn about birding in each season, so they have set up regular meetings—usually the third Saturday of each month. It is free, and new members are welcome. The group is for adults and children age 12 and up. The meeting is from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
