Over one hundred kids and accompanying adults created unique walking sticks recently during one of the daily activities being offered at Bernheim's ECO Kids (Every Child Outside) celebration throughout June. Kids selected their own stick, and were assisted in turning it into walking stick art by master walking stick maker Tony Cecil. Bits and pieces of nature and other nature related embellishments adorned each creation. Kids put their new walking sticks to use by hiking short family friendly trails around the Visitor Center and Arboretum grounds.
This free activity will be offered again on Monday, June 22nd. Advance registration is not required. Kids can enjoy making their own walking stick anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the Visitor Center. For a listing of other activities offered that day, or for a complete calendar of programs offered throughout the remainder of June, visit www.bernheim.org.
