This past weekend, some friends and I checked out Donegan's Restaurant & Pub (942 Baxter Avenue). I've lived in Louisville for about three years now, and the bar — between O'Shea's and Flanagan's on the same side of the street — has had about five different owners since 2007. (Most famously, the bar was Willy's.) Anyway, it was pretty dead when we were there, and my wife started exploring. Up a flight of stairs she went. That's where she found a door with a keypad. The door was unlocked.
Inside? Only the strangest VIP lounge I've ever seen. It reminded me of a Disney World ride simulator built in the 1990s. The room's four walls are covered with mirrors and padding. Each wall has built-in seating in a maroon-and-gray color scheme; each seat has a remote that controls a built-in massager. I tried all of the remotes, and most were working. The thermostat, however, was not — which means the room was a toasty 84 degrees. I'm assuming the few speakers mounted overhead would have supplied tunes had we rented the space.
Oh, yeah: In a back corner, my wife found a hidden door that leads to a room with a sink and a leather chair that has an alligator embroidered into its back. Don't know what the room is for. Your imagination can figure it out.
Apologies for the poor photos. It was dark in there...and I had been drinking.
