Hazel Cole Kendle will read "Cole Family Christmas," a book she co-authored with her granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Liu Bryan. This grandmother/granddaughter team documented a true family story passed down for generations about Hazel's Kentucky coal mining family and an unforgettable Christmas experience in the 1920s.
Hilda, an interactive cartoon character and Cole’s pet goat in the book, will also trot her way in to Barnes & Noble’s to talk and play with the children. With the help of an actor, a webcam, and a large screen, Hilda will verbally and visually respond in real time to the children’s questions. Until the creation of Hilda, this technology had only been used for major theme parks.
The book's reading level is set for ages 10-12 and arranged in 9 short chapters to encourage families with younger children to regularly read aloud together.
