Art Camps for Kids This Summer at the Kentucky of Art and Craft
Registration is on a first come-first served basis.
Kid Art Camps at KMAC are offered for school age children in kindergarten through 5th grade. The camps will be held in the 3rd floor Education Dept. of KMAC's award winning historic building, located at 715 W. Main Street, daily from 10-3 pm. Projects include: stone carving, wood sculptures, basket making, photography and polymer clay creations. On Friday of each week, the children will participate in a Louisville gallery hop, visiting downtown galleries. The cost is $125 for museum members and $150 for non-members, includes all supplies.
Dates for the Kid Art sessions are: June 12 - 16 for K ? 1st Graders, June 19 - 23 for 2nd ? 3rd Graders, and July 10 - 14 for 4th ? 5th Graders
Camps at Blackacre Nature Preserve are offered for middle school children in the 6th through 8th grade, or ages 10-13. Black Acre Nature preserve is located in Southeastern Jefferson County. Hours are 9:15-2:15 daily, Friday 9:15-12:30. All activities are taught by professional artists, they include: drum making led by Stu Cox, abstract paintings led by Shayne Hull, creative creature lamps led by Leslie Blackford, and quilted and embellished shaped textiles led by Jennifer Reis. The cost is $125, includes all supplies. For an additional fee of $15, bus transportation is provided by Jefferson County Public Schools, from 5 area JCPS sites and from downtown.
