Participants in the sale include Deana O’Daniel, a Louisville-based writer, Dara Carlisle, an Owen County candle maker and fabric artist, photographer Kelly Leavitt, intaglio printer-maker Mary Lou Hess, and Mark Roberts, a jewelry maker from Frankfort, Kentucky. Veronica Gayle of Daily Bread will have her delicious home-baked goods, jellies, and jams along with hand-made hats and scarves. Sharon Lombardo’s company “Anna’s EsScentials” will offer lovely body products and soaps. Chris and Kerry Clifford will offer their hand-scrolled wooden ornaments. Plus, The Friends of the Portland Library will sell hand-painted ceramic tree ornaments to benefit the library.
This year, the holiday sale will feature poets Maureen Morehead and Fred Smock who will be at the event between 2:00 and 3:30 to sign copies of their newest books published by Larkspur Press. Maureen Moorhead will sign her books of poetry, The Melancholy Teacher, and A Sense of Time Left. Frederick Smock will sign The Blue Hour and Guest House. Larkspur Press, located in Monterey, Kentucky, will have a large selection of hand-printed broadsides, cards, and volumes including works by Wendell Berry and other Kentucky writers.
The Portland Museum will hold its Annual Holiday Sale on Sunday, December 5 between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. The Portland Museum is located at 2308 Portland Avenue. The holiday sale is open to the public and admission to the sale is free.
