Using Kentucky’s homegrown timber as the common element, the decor, auction, and atmosphere of the event will tell the story of how the art of making bourbon and the art of making craft comes together. The event will take place on Saturday, October 6th at The Henry Clay.

The Museum invited a select group of local artists to create original works of art or functional objects that are made up wholly, or in part, from staves, tops and hoops of the white oak bourbon barrels used in the distillation and aging of bourbon. These pieces will be featured as a key artistic element at the event and will be up for auction as well.

Throughout the evening, a video will be projected on a massive screen that takes viewers on a journey from earth to art. It will demonstrate the transformation of wood being used in the process of creating bourbon and the process of creating wood art. Even the centerpieces will feature wooden barrel staves, along with the natural grains used to make bourbon.

There are a number of exceptional sports related packages in the silent auction, including tickets to the Ryder Cup, which will be in September 2008 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, and tickets to the Masters Golf Tournament, which will be held at Augusta National Golf and Country Club in Augusta, GA in April 2008.

The dinner will be presented by The Silver Spoon. The dessert features a chocolate Bourbon Barrel filled with yellow sponge cake and creme brulee with spun sugar and caramel sauce. Photo attached. For the full menu, see below.
