    Bit to Do

What was the best day of the year when you were a kid? Christmas is a serious contender, but giving it a serious run is that glorious day called The Last Day of School. Thus is the subject of the 1993 film “Dazed & Confused,” written and directed by Richard Linklater (“Waking Life,” “School of Rock”); quite simply, it is a portrait of the last day of school for a group of teenagers in 1976.

The film has achieved something of a cult status due to its memorable scenes and characters: incoming freshman girls undergoing hazing via splatter-by-condiment; the slow-motion and stylized paddling of a new freshman boy by a senior; the keg party in the woods where the night ends; and, of course, Matthew McConaughey’s now-legendary performance as David Wooderson (“All right, all right, all right!” “That’s what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.”)

107.7 The Eagle presents a free screening of “Dazed & Confused” at 8:00 tonight at Rave Cinemas Preston Crossing as part of their Rock and Roll Holiday Movie Festival. Tickets can be obtained at Harley-Davidson Louisville, or they can be won instantly by texting EAGLE to 70123. In addition to the film, door prizes will be awarded, new motorcycles will be on display, and food and drinks will be available at discounted prices.

The Eagle Rock & Roll Holiday Movie Festival presents classic rock-themed movies every Thursday in December. “The Blues Brothers” plays on December 15, and “Walk the Line” plays on December 22. The first 107 people to show up to the theater receive a free pass to any film at Rave Stonybrook or Rave Preston Crossing.

Rave Cinemas Preston Crossing is located at 9700 Preston Crossing Boulevard.
Harley-Davidson Louisville is located at 1700 Arthur Street.

    About Allan Day

There are legitimate theories that the Big Bang originated from the collapse of a black hole in a fourth-dimensional universe. This stuff fascinates me, and I love reading about it. I love reading about science. And about anything, for that matter, provided it's interesting - and everything is potentially interesting, so I'm fascinated by a lot of things. I also read a lot of fiction (Kurt Vonnegut deserves deification) and watch a lot of movies (Charlie Chaplin also deserves deification). I've made a few short films myself. I'm also a writer of everything - I'm close to a Bachelor's in English at IUS. My life consists of reading, writing, bartending, and taking care of my daughter full-time. Life is busy and life is stressful, but that's why there's music and art and other forms of relaxation.
