Have you ever had that perfect dining experience? The food may be only a part of it. But it’s a magic, often romantic moment when atmosphere, company, mood, cuisine and maybe just plain luck combine to make a lasting memory. Here, our writers share a few of their own. Consider it an appetizer for Valentine’s Day.
My review of Phin & Matt's Extraordinary Ale from Southern Tier...you won't know if it is indeed extraordinary if you don't read on.
I know the title has something to be desired and can use a little finesse, but this is a continuation of "Coupleville v.4" wherein I asked for suggestions from all of you readers out there for my wife's birthdaypalooza, and in the profound words of Keanu Reeves, "Whoa..." Thanks to everyone for particpating, and in my own catch-phrases: "Holey Bigoley & Mama Pajama!" It's only going to get better (at least reading:).
Revisiting an experiment from last summer's heat wave
This year, with the lack of previous local major music festivals such as Hullabaloo and Forecastle - Bonnaroo celebrates it's 10th anniversary and there's no shortage of musicians, artists, and local Louisvilleians who plan to attend just across our southern border. If you don't go, you'll never know. And if you've been, you'll go again. I am.

Restaurateur Majid Ghavami decided to meld a few American cooking concepts into his once purely Persian menu when he opened Majid's St. Matthews.
There aren't any palm trees or island breezes in the Clifton neighborhood, but there is a tangible taste of the tropics on display at Cubana, whose decor and menu deliver a distinct Caribbean vibe.
Marriage is all about almost tireless planning but it is worth it: from the ceremony, to cohabitation, to kids, to growing old with the person you managed to convince to go on a second date.
"I dunno, wherever you like is fine honey,"....An age old answer from girls which is like 'pleading the fifth' when trying to plan a date. You know you're guilty for knowing what you want, but will never admit the truth. From a guy's perspective the decision making is harder than asking the girl out for the first time. This past week for my birthday I turned the tables as my wife struggled on where to go out for dinner. "I just want a great steak and potatoes - ladies choice,". Luckily I have a great gal with a wonderful knowledge of Louisville and Pat's Steak House it was.
When Wild Ginger Sushi Bistro opened just a few doors from Sapporo Japanese Steakhouse in October 2010, some questioned whether that Highlands stretch of Bardstown Road could support another sushi-centered restaurant. So far the answer is undoubtedly yes.
While I’m not sure the servers at Mozz knew I was a reviewer, I am sure of one thing: I wasn’t unnoticed. No one is. This restaurant presents itself as many things — a fine-dining establishment, a jazz venue, the Market Street Bar and the Mozz Bar — all of it sprawled across much of the first floor of the Cobalt Building on the corner of Market and Jackson streets.
