As if you didn't already know, Thunder Over Louisville is the largest fireworks display in America, and the much-anticipated kickoff to the Derby Festival. This year's Thunder Over Louisville is happening on Saturday, April 18, 2015. This year's theme is "Boom with a View."
This year's air show will feature the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and parachute team. A more comprehensive schedule of events will be released closer to April 18, but until then here's a refresher about the rules and regulations to which attendees must adhere [4], as well as "tips and tricks for survival." [4] You'll be able to pick up the official Thunder program in the Courier-Journal on Sunday, April 12, which will have a Thunder map and a show schedule. The LMPD will have a traffic plan in place, but it's safe to say you will be stuck in several hours of traffic leaving Thunder whatever precautions you take, so make plans to stay hydrated.
