You may have gone to the movie theater hundreds of times and never noticed that Cinemark plays live performances of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City right here in Louisville.  Tomorrow night be sure to see a performance of Puccini’s

La Bohème

An opera in four acts,

La

libretto is based on Henri Murger’s novel,

La vie de bohème

, a collection of vignettes that portray young bohemians living in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1840s.  The work premiered in 1896 and has since enjoyed a cultural influence unlike anything else.  There have been numerous adaptations including the recent film,

Moulin Rouge!

and musical

Rent

.

This Met broadcast is of Franco

Zeffirelli’s

production and is conducted by Stefano

Ranzani

.  It also features an all-star cast with

Vittorio

Grigolo

as

Rodolfo

, Anita

Hartig

as

Mimì

and

Massimo

Cavalletti

as Marcello.

Showtime is this Wednesday, April 10th at 6:30 pm at

Cinemark

Theaters.  More information can be found here [4].

Also be sure to add to your calendar Mozart's

Così fan tutte

on April 26th and Rossini’s

La Cenerentola

on May 10th.
