Louisville’s Whiskey Row and Urban Bourbon Trail [4] have once again received national media attention. Page 28 of this month’s National Geographic Traveler [5] (now available on newsstands) features a picture of Down One Bourbon Bar [6]’s photo-op-tastic front window along with a story about the resurgence of bourbon culture in Louisville. Also quoted in this article is an often-referenced fact about Kentucky: there are more barrels of bourbon in Kentucky than there are people.
The Urban Bourbon trail has grown to include the Evan Williams Experience [7] and more than two dozen bourbon bars and restaurants, each of which include a minimum of 50 different bourbons. Each place has its own unique culture-everything from The Silver Dollar [8]’s classic country music atmosphere to Bourbons Bistro [9]’s upscale dining experience.
There are two ways to get a passport for the Urban Bourbon Trail- either download the app on your smartphone or pick up a paper passport at the Visitor’s Center [10] at 4th and Jefferson. You only need to get six stamps in your passport to claim your prize, making this an ideal way to introduce out-of-town guests to Louisville’s bourbon culture.
