Deception as a means to have two people fall in love takes place in the musical “The Fantasticks,” which Hayswood Theatre will open on Friday.
“The Fantasticks” will take place on Oct. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. each night. Matinees will happen on Oct. 4, 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. each day. All performances are to happen at Hayswood Theatre [4], located at 115 S. Capitol Ave [5]. in Corydon, IN.
Tickets for each show are $14 for adults, $12 for children 17 and under and $12 for senior citizens 65 and above. Due to limited seating, advance ticket purchases are recommended and can be done by calling the Blaine H. Wiseman Visitor Center at 812-738-2138. The visitor center hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
“The Fantasticks” [6] features two fathers who pretend to quarrel in an attempt to get their kids, Matt and Luisa, to fall in love with each other. As part of the plan, the fathers and some traveling actors plot a fake abduction so Matt can save Luisa. Will the plan work? What if it backfires?
Tom Jones created the lyrics and Harvey Schmidt created the music for “The Fantasticks.” Kevin Swansey directed the production for Hayswood Theatre [7].
Following “The Fantasticks,” Hayswood Theatre will present “Miracle on 34th Street.” That production will open in November.
