5.   Head to the Louisville Zoo [30]for fall fun
The Louisville Zoo is actually one of my favorite places to head in the fall and early winter. Most people think of flocking to the zoo in the summer, but I like lesser crowds and more active animals! The zoo has something for everyone, and is gearing up for their huge annual Halloween event this October.

World's Largest Halloween Party - for 17 nights in October
Runs October 2-4, October 8-11, 15-18, 22-25, 29-30

6.   Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Louisville [33]
My family has attended this Halloween/fall event since its inception in Louisville and it is truly "spectacular." Head to Iroquois Park starting October 8 for a magical night of pumpkin lights and dark lined paths.

This is another one of those places in Louisville that screams with horror and hauntings and everything eerie for the Halloween season. They offer haunted tours on Friday and Saturday nights now through the end of October. Rumor has it that this historic site in Louisville will be turned into a hotel some day! According to the Facebook page [34]:

8.   What to do in Southern Indiana this fall

When we think fall in Louisville, we almost always associate it with the sunny side of Louisville and of course, Huber's. You can also head to many other spots along the river north of Louisville. Check out Madison, Indiana, Hidden Hill in Utica, Huber's Orchard and Winery, hike at Mount St. Francis in Floyds Knobs, walk the Big 4 Bridge to Jeffersonville and/or head to the Falls of the Ohio for an afternoon. See this list [37]for ideas when visiting southern Indiana.

9.   University of Louisville Homecoming Week

The University of Louisville Alumni Association invites the public to attend the 2015 Homecoming Parade [38], which will be held on Friday, October 23 at 6 p.m. This year's theme is Every Day is Game Day, and it is a family-friendly parade. See the UofL Alumni page [39]for a full calendar of Homecoming events.

10.  Hit the Bourbon Trails or the new Lou's Brews Trail-perfect combinations of local drinks and crisp, cool walks

Fall is a superb time of year for walking, and what better way than to head out on one of many Bourbon trails around the area, or take a tour of a distillery. Don't forget about the new  Lou's Brews Trail, [41] featuring Louisville's own local craft beer breweries and tap houses. See Louisville.com's Bourbon links [42]for all there is to know about bourbon!

Be sure to check out the remainder of these top 10 fall festivals [43]around Louisville and Kentuckiana!
