Angel McCoughtry had a pair of solid games and Shoni Schimmel had two of her best games of the season.
Here’s a closer look at how the two former University of Louisville stars, who now play for the Atlanta Dream, did in the 10th week of the WNBA season.
McCoughtry averaged 25 points and 3.5 steals in two games for Atlanta, which went 1-1.
She tallied a team-high 32 points and a game-high six steals in the Dream’s 84-82 loss to visiting Minnesota on Friday night. McCoughtry was 10 for 24 from the field, including 3 of 9 from 3-point range, and 9 for 10 from the free throw line while grabbing three rebounds, dishing out three assists and committing one turnover in 32 minutes.
Two days later she scored 18 points in Atlanta’s 90-77 win over Connecticut. McCoughtry was 6 for 17 from the field, including 1 of 3 from 3-point range, and 5 for 6 from the free throw line while also recording one rebound, one assist, one steal and three turnovers in 31 minutes.
So far this season McCoughtry is averaging 20.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists in the Dream’s 24 games.
Schimmel (pictured above) averaged 16.5 points and five assists and 33.5 minutes in a pair of starts for Atlanta this past week.
She had 18 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the Dream’s narrow loss to the Lynx. Schimmel was 7 for 19 from the field, including 2 of 8 from 3-point range, and 2 for 2 from the free throw line while recording one steal and two turnovers in a season-high 38 minutes.
Then Sunday afternoon she had 15 points and four rebounds in Atlanta’s win over the Sun. Schimmel was 5 for 6 from the field, including 3 of 3 from 3-point range, and 2 for 2 from the free throw line while also dishing out two assists and committing three turnovers in 29 minutes.
Schimmel is averaging 6.9 points, 3.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game this season.
Atlanta (9-15), which is in last place in the Eastern Conference, plays at New York on Friday night and at Connecticut next Sunday.
