This Thursday, August 13th, Iroquois Amphitheater [4] welcomes Umphrey's McGee [5] back to the Louisville area once more. The band that formed on the campus of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana is widely known for being a jam band who experiments with other genres like, metal, electronic, and blues. They're "improg" like, Phish and the Grateful Dead, but also influenced by rock groups like, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.
The band has gained a loyal fan base over the 16 plus years of playing live and have formed a special bond with their fans. “Umphrey’s McGee is always looking for the next big thing to make its fans feel as connected...as possible," according to Los Angeles Times. That's impressive considering the group plays over 100 shows annually. While they are typically heralded as a live music group, Umphrey's McGee has recorded seven studio albums throughout their career.
Their eighth album,"Similar Skin", is their first album produced on their own label, Nothing Too Fancy (N2F).
Tickets are $27.50 in advance and $30.00 at the door. For more information about the show and tickets click here [6]!
