Flat12 Bierworks [4] hosted a Back to School Bash for local teachers this past Friday, August 7, where they showcased Hopped on Phonics IPA — a beer brewed by local teachers. Hopped on Phonics definitely went over well with customers as it ran out when the night was still very young. The event also doubled as their weekly RiverStage [5] Viewing Party.
Flat12 Bierworks is a highlight of any Friday evening by the RiverStage. Their patio is primed not only for listening to music, but for people watching too. Beer prices are good, usually with select beers on a discount. Garage doors on their façade are open to ease the flow of traffic. Their food menu is limited — only a couple appetizers and some flatbreads — but it gets the job done. Their beer is what you come for.
The night centers on the RiverStage itself. Endless Summer Band [6] were the headliners this particular night, and they had a song for every generation. And I mean every generation, from strollers to walkers. Families and friends; kids, parents and grandparents; bikers, walkers, strollers and sightseers were all gathered on the lawn or in the street to enjoy the wonderful evening. And when it gets dark, the lights on the RiverStage and Big Four Bridge [7] add a little glamor to the serene Ohio River backdrop.
There are four more RiverStage Viewing Parties [8] left, each Friday from now until September 4. So come out to one, two, three or all four of them!
