Turner’s on River Road is usually a multi-purpose athletic venue as well as the home of Louisville Turner’s circus but a couple times a summer a concert will pop up and use the venue. The largely popular (to the underground scene) Cropped Out Festival has used Turner's in years past but is taking the year off.
Turner’s is no Louisville Palace in décor or condition (and of course not in size), but its charm keeps everyone going there. The music Turner’s usually hosts is similar to the venue itself: gritty and unrefined but endearing.
You can expect more of that when the second ever Driftwood Fest comes around on August 7-8. Local group The Formalities (a group whose members are still in college) organized the event and filled it with 16 bands across the two days.
They have covered the music and got some grub too. There will be three food trucks each night. You’ll find Longshot Lobsta and Ramiro’s Cantina there each night with Lexie Lu’s on Friday and Louisville Sushi Truck on Saturday.
The following bands will be playing Driftwood Fest:
Friday--Lazy Sunday, Plateau Below (Bloomington), Babirusa, Cricket, Phourist and the Photons (New Albany), Bad Times Band (New Albany), Harbour (Lebanon, Ohio), Villain District
Saturday-- The Formalities, Buffalo Rodeo (Bowling Green), Chief Scout (Nashville), Concord America (Atlanta), Craig Wagner, King Louie, Indigo Wild (Columbus), Harbour (Lebanon, Ohio), Boner City
Music begins at 4 p.m. on Friday and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $10 for Friday only $15 for Saturday only and $20 for both days.
