Last year, the vacant lot behind the facades at 615 West Main Street reinvented itself, becoming ReSurfaced, an effort to turn Louisville’s ugly, unused surface lots into beautiful, usable community spaces. This year, it reinvents itself again.

ReSurfaced: The Bourbon Edition will run every Thursday-Saturday in June (except Saturday, June 20, when it will host a wedding), bringing back the pro-community vibe that the space held last year. This year’s theme, bourbon, will touch virtually every aspect of the space - copper and wood; a tree canopy; a bourbon bar to serve up classic and new cocktails; finishing touches from local distillers.

Live music will be featured through throughout June, and food will be provided on site. Restaurant owners interested in selling their food at ReSurfaced should contact City Collaborative. [4]

Invoking a bourbon festival feel, the design is bringing together the ideas of Kentucky, of bourbon, of agriculture and of industry. It’s embracing the idea of creating “a little something different… Something you walk up on and wouldn’t expect to see in an abandoned lot,” according to City Collaborative designers.

The project doesn’t stop here. ReSurfaced will be making another announcement in the fall, presumably to announce a second location. The plans get bigger from there - organizers envision eventually hosting a huge bourbon festival, big enough to shut down Main Street.

After ReSurfaced’s scheduled events end in July, the lot will be open for private rentals.
