Monday (4/20) -
Walk The Moon [5]
These tickets have been sold out for a while, but if you procured them, be prepared for a jubilant night at the Mercury Ballroom. These guys produce highly danceable and catchy songs, and being so close to home (Cincinnati), I’m sure they will give us their best.
Tuesday (4/21) -
The Mountain Goats with Ides of Gemini [6]
This John Darnielle-centered band has a new album out, Beat The Champ, that was a hot commodity this past Saturday during Record Store Day. The album will be the focal point of their Headliners early-week show.
Wednesday (4/22) -
WFPK’S Waterfront Wednesday with Shakey Graves, JD McPherson and Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers [7]
IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers, who rose to success with some fantastic covers, are now rolling with their own music and will open up the night at 6pm. Next, JD McPherson will provide a catchy 1950’s rock and roll sound. Wrapping up the night, Austin's Shakey Graves will bring upbeat, blues-y rock n' roll that has been hot on the WFPK playlists. Last season’s Waterfront Wednesday shows continued to set records, and with a first line-up like this, this year is setting up to do the same.
Thursday (4/23) -
Rosanne Cash with John Leventhal [8]
Rosanne Cash is from one of the most influential musical families of the last 50 years. Everyone knows that. So catching this legend at the pristine yet intimate KCD Theater is something you’d regret missing.
Lil Wayne [9]
If you’re willing to fork over the bills, Mr. Carter will be in town for some pre-Derby partying. The rapper claims to be retiring here soon, so you probably need to take advantage of this Diamond’s event.
Friday (4/24) -
Those Darlins and Adia Victoria [10]
Those Darlins are an alt-country rock, lady-led band out of Nashville. Their live sets have been known to rile up even the weariest of crowds, so predicting a rowdy time at Zanzabar is a no-brainer.
Saturday (4/25) -
The Schnitzelburg neighborhood is a historical yet very current area of Louisville. This event, which runs concurrent with The Schnitzelburg Walk, will be centralized at The Cure Lounge on Shelby Street. Jack Holiday and the Westerners will be the headlining act, as well as a slew of other local musicians.
Sean Rowe and Matthew Fowler [12]
Sean Rowe opened up the final 2014 Waterfront Wednesday and is back again, this time at Zanzabar. His signature baritone voice gives his folk songs a unique sound. We're hoping the singer-songwriter plays a few tracks from his much anticipated upcoming EP, Her Songs, featuring songs written by Sade, Cat Power, Neko Case, Regina Spektor, Lucinda Williams and Feist.
