Whether it's the inviting scent or the vibrant scenery, Sweet Peaches (on the corner of 18th and Muhammad Ali) is definitely noticeable. Owner, Pamela Haines, opened her shop a little over a year ago.
Sweet Peaches serves savory soups, salads and sandwiches. One of Haine's goals for Sweet Peaches is to provide healthier options for those living or commuting to Louisville's West End or Downtown. Her personal favorite menu item is "the Hungry Man," a big sandwich stacked with three meats, cheese, veggies and three slices of bread. Sweet Peaches also serves breakfasts like the French toast meal, which includes sweet French toast, bacon or sausage, and eggs any way you like.
But Sweet Peaches isn't simply a restaraunt, Haine’s caters to the community by holding a monthly poetry slam, which includes a performed spoken work competition. These events are free and open to the public, and a schedule can be accessed on Sweet Peaches' Facebook Page. [4]
Haine's eventual goal is to open a second Sweet Peaches in the West End. She cooks out of love and wants everyone that dines at the restaurant to feel at home. "It's never been about the money, but about what I've always loved to do."
