Elvis Dumervil had a couple of sacks while C.J. Spillman and William Gay each had a couple of tackles. Here’s a quick look at what one Louisville native and two University of Louisville products did in the first weekend of the NFL playoffs.
Dumervil (Baltimore): The ninth-year outside linebacker (pictured above) out of UofL, who last week was named to the Associated Press All-Pro first team, totaled three tackles - including two quarterback sacks - in the Ravens’ 30-17 win at Pittsburgh on Saturday night in an AFC wild-card playoff game. Sixth-seeded Baltimore will visit No. 1 seed New England at 4:35 p.m. this coming Saturday in an AFC divisional playoff game.
Gay (Pittsburgh): The eighth-year cornerback out of UofL tallied two tackles for the Steelers in their 30-17 loss to visiting Baltimore on Saturday night in an AFC wild-card playoff game.
Spillman (Dallas): The sixth-year defensive back and special teams standout, who is a Louisville native, Central High School graduate and former Marshall University standout, tallied two tackles - including a big hit on Golden Tate on a punt return - in the Cowboys’ 24-20 comeback win over visiting Detroit on Sunday afternoon in a NFC wild-card playoff game. Third-seeded Dallas will next play at No. 2 seed Green Bay at 1:05 p.m. this coming Sunday in an NFC divisional playoff game.
