The University of Louisville men’s and women’s basketball teams started their seasons off on the right foot.

The men’s team began with an 81-68 win over Minnesota in the Armed Forces Classic on Friday night Puerto Rico. Meanwhile the women’s team won its season-opener 89-69 Friday evening at IUPUI, then defeated UT-Martin 77-43 in its home opener Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.

In the 12th-ranked Lady Cards’ victory over the host Jaguars, freshman Mariya Moore tallied a game-high 22 points in her collegiate debut while senior guard Bria Smith contributed 15 points and freshman Myisha Hines-Allen added 11.

Then against the Skyhawks, all five starters scored in double figures to lead Louisville to victory. Hines-Allen and Smith scored 14 points apiece while Moore tallied 12. Seniors Sara Hammond and Jude Schimmel added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Cards next host Belmont at 7 p.m. Thursday night.

• The

  men’s soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 double-overtime loss to Clemson in the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C. The

  Tigers scored with 3 seconds left in regulation to force OT. Then, after a scoreless 10-minute period, Clemson scored the game-winner on

  field hockey team lost to No. 8 Stanford 2-1 in overtime in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday in
