Opening Reception of the Heaven Hill Bar at KFC YUM! Center


The event will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony, cocktails and refreshments with Heaven Hill executives and Louisville officials and luminaries. Festival of Trees and Lights at Slugger Field 


The 25th annual Festival of Trees & Lights, hosted by the Children's Hospital Foundation, will feature hundreds of volunteers who have designed and decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and hand crafted holiday items - all of which are for sale to raise funds for the neuroscience and neurosurgery program at Kosair Children’s Hospital.

Louisville Noir at Revelry Boutique Gallery


Louisville Noir, running through December 4th, is a photographic portrait series by Tom LeGoff of the many characters residing in the city of Louisville. The photos are classical portraiture that comment on the subject’s personality by using simple props or locations. Then, in the tradition started by Julia Margaret Cameron, the subjects become characters in Tom's fictional narrative Louisville Noir.

Wanda Sykes at the Louisville Palace


Sykes was previously seen on several television shows over the past two years. Her Own special "Herlarious" which aired in July highlighted female comics. Last year she made a return to HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” starring opposite Larry David. In 2010 she starred on her own late night talk show on FOX, “The Wanda Sykes Show”. In October of 2009 her second HBO stand up special “I’ma Be Me” premiered. It was taped at the Warner theatre in Washington DC where she tackled topics like the first black president, gay cruises, being a new mom and aging. The special was nominated for two 2010 Primetime Emmy awards: Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special and Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special.

The Writer’s Block Festival

The Writer’s Block Festival celebrates literature and the writing craft with a range of activities, including readings, panels, guest talks and craft workshops. Listen as poet and memoirist Nick Flynn and Steve Wasserman speak. The Green Building will be host registration and panel discussions and Carmichaels Booksellers will sell books by participating authors. Panels, workshops and readings will run continuously in various galleries and businesses along E. Market Street in NULU.

Salute to the Legends Dinner at the Muhammad Ali Center


Boys and Girls Haven and the Muhammed Ali Center will host their annual Salute to the Legends Dinner featuring former UK and UofL athletes. Enjoy a night of nostalgia as they remember moments created by these legends in our community. In addition to dinner and drinks, the evening will include a raffle and live auction with items such as UK and UofL memorabilia signed by coaches and players. All proceeds from this event will help provide homes and a future to children and young adults who have been the victims of abuse, abandonment, and neglect.
